Goals aplenty for Spartak Subotica and PK-35

ZFK Spartak Subotica and PK-35 Vantaa emphatically left their stamp on day one of the 2013/14 UEFA Women's Champions League qualifying round as the competition opened with a glut of goals and high-scoring victories.

Spartak Subotica and PK-35 scored 23 times between them in sizeable wins, the latter's Hanne Ojanperä registering five goals of her own in the most eyecatching individual performance of the day.

The eight group winners, plus the two runners-up with the best records against the sides first and third in their sections, will proceed to the draw for the round of 32 on 5 September.

Group 1
Two first-half strikes from Amela Fetahović set mini-tournament hosts WFC SFK 2000 Sarajevo up for a 3-0 triumph against Cardiff City FC. Konak Belediyespor also kept a clean sheet, the debutants from Turkey running out 2-0 winners against NSA Sofia.

Group 2
Spartak Subotica's Milena Nikolić hit a hat-trick inside the first 13 minutes as the Serbian side put ten without reply past SK Liepājas Metalurgs. CFF Olimpia Cluj cruised to three points themselves in the other fixture, prevailing 3-0 against FK Gintra Universitetas with the help of Alexandra Lunca's double.

Group 3
The Republic of Ireland's Raheny United FC twice recovered from a goal down against MTK Hungária FC in Belfast but had no answer to substitute Dóra Papp's 69th-minute winner. MTK's 3-2 success was bettered by WFC Kharkiv, who beat Crusaders Strikers WFC 5-0.

Group 4
Portuguese representatives Clube Atlético Ouriense endured a miserable European debut, succumbing 5-0 to FC Zürich, with Fabienne Humm and Cinzia Zehnder each scoring twice. The match between KÍ Klaksvík and Ekonomist ended 1-1.

Group 5
Down to ten players for much of the second half following the dismissal of Alla Martyniuk, FC Bobruichanka nonetheless overcame KS Ada Velipoje 3-1, Loveth Ayila scoring her second and the Belarusian outfit's third a minute after the red card. That was also the scoreline by which RTP Unia Racibórz defeated ŽNK Pomurje Beltinci.

Group 6
Pärnu JK's encounter with FC PAOK Thessaloniki was was in the balance until the impressive Olga Ivanova increased the Estonian team's lead to 3-1 with nine minutes remaining. Finnish hosts PK-35, who have reached the last 32 in each of their previous two campaigns, lead the way, however, following a 13-1 defeat of ŽFK Biljanini Izvori in which Ojanperä registered five times and Sanna Saarinen three. The game started inauspiciously for PK-35, though, when Sanna Porali headed into her own net inside a minute.

Group 7
ASA Tel-Aviv FC were also among the goals. The Israeli team made light work of Moldovan newcomers Goliador-SS11, recording a 6-0 win, while hosts Apollon Limassol LFC were given a helping hand against FC Nové Zámky by Zuzanna Čupajová's own goal in a 2-0 victory.  

Group 8
Glasgow City LFC, the highest-ranked side in the qualifying round, got their campaign off to a flying start with a 7-0 victory over WFC Osijek. The Scottish champions were five to the good by half-time thanks largely to Joanne Love's treble. Hosts FC Twente – who face Glasgow City on Tuesday in a potential section decider – almost emulated that scoreline, condemning Birkirkara FC to a 6-0 reverse despite being just one up at the break.
