The Polish government agency PL.2012 has launched an innovative project to make life easier for football fans visiting the country during UEFA EURO 2012.
The Polish Guide website – polishguide2012.pl – offers those planning trips detailed information about Poland and its four UEFA EURO 2012 host cities, Gdansk, Poznan, Warsaw and Wroclaw. Besides information about the stadiums, fan zones, team base camps, and security and safety, the website also provides a transport guide.
Anyone using the website can tailor this information to suit the needs of their trip via a personalised Your Guide information service which will also be accessible on mobile devices.
The other significant feature of the Polish Guide website is the Polish Pass which can be purchased online and is designed to help visitors book travel tickets and accommodation. It includes integrated tickets for local transport as well as national rail services and should help holders with hotel and flight bookings. More information is available on the website.
"After purchasing the Polish Pass you will be able to book a hotel or buy a ticket for transportation in the host cities," said Dominiki Jung, project coordinator for Polish Pass at PL.2012. "Additionally the holder of the Polish Pass will be able to buy train or flight tickets, both domestic and international."
Once bought, the Polish Pass can be printed out at home and is valid with a passport.
The Polish Guide website has been launched in Polish and English though this will be expanded in the coming days to incorporate German, French, Spanish and Russian language sections.
Wojciech Folejewski, operations director at PL.2012, explained that the service could be customised for each visitor, and would be available on mobile phones. "In the new year we will launch a new functionality called customised scheduler," said Folejewski. "Everyone will be able to set their own plan for travel, events and locations.
"Before the tournament we will additionally launch the service on mobile devices. This will be a useful and comfortable solution for foreign visitors travelling in Poland."
