Applications now open for August's 2024 edition in Switzerland, which is organised alongside the IMD Business School.

EA SPORTS FC is the new presenting partner of the UEFA Academy's successful Women in Football Leadership Programme (UEFA WFLP).

The UEFA WFLP has helped more than 240 women from around the world advance their career within the game since its launch in 2014 and will now benefit from EA SPORTS FC's support.

This year’s edition will take place in August between UEFA HQ in Nyon and the Lausanne campus of IMD Business School, the academic institution delivering the programme, with applications open now.

Thomas Junod, Head of the UEFA Academy:

"We are thrilled to welcome EA SPORTS FC as the new presenting partner for our well-established UEFA Women in Football Leadership Programme. This unparalleled initiative champions the advancement of women poised to shape the future of football, offering a dynamic platform for exchange, networking, and empowerment. The inclusion of participants from EA SPORTS will inject fresh, innovative ideas and perspectives into our conversations."

Andrea Hopelain, GM & SVP of Publishing at EA SPORTS:

"Women’s History Month is all about celebrating the achievements of women and what better way for us to do this than partner with UEFA to support this fantastic programme. In line with this year’s Women’s History Month theme of inspiring inclusion, we’re really proud to be paving the path for women within our organisation and the wider industry to become leaders in the world of football."

What is the UEFA Women in Football Leadership Programme?

Studies indicate that organisations with mixed senior management teams tend to outperform those lacking women in positions of power. Football is gradually seeing more women moving into leadership roles, but more work needs to be done.

Involving key-note speeches from existing leaders in the industry, a variety of group training sessions, as well as one-on-one-coaching, the UEFA WFLP is designed to improve leadership skills, encourage networking and build self-confidence in potential female leaders of the future.

By empowering women with the tools to succeed in senior positions, the UEFA WFLP also aims to foster gender diversity and inclusion in football, elevating more women to decision-making roles within the game.

The programme has already had a significant impact, with several alumni going on to take up leadership positions in their respective football associations and confederations across the globe.

The UEFA WFLP announcement builds on EA SPORTS FC's commitment to championing women in football, and is the latest milestone in a long-standing relationship with UEFA which recently saw the launch of a new grassroots partnership to support community level football, featuring a library of free, online training practices.
