Liechtenstein claimed a moral victory as a strong, energetic display earned an unlikely FIFA World Cup qualifying point against Finland.

Quick-fire equaliser
The hosts took command midway through the first half, with 19-year-old David Hasler firing just wide after 24 minutes, though Berat Sadik had earlier gone close for Finland. The visitors' class showed immediately after the break, but Jonatan Johansson was twice denied by Peter Jehle before the goalkeeper was finally beaten by Jari Litmanen's 71st-minute penalty. Liechtenstein struck back, though, when substitute Michele Polverino finished a quick-fire move, although the dismissal of unused substitute Stefan Büchel shortly afterwards dampened the mood a little. Alexei Eremenko Jr hit the upright for Finland, who visit Wales on 10 October, in added time. Having doubled their Group 4 tally in Vaduz, Liechtenstein will hope for more points at home to Azerbaijan on the same night.
